— CUSTOM DJINN RULE —
Up to 2 recommended travellers might be in the bag & the player count lowers accordingly. Travellers are not announced, executions & exiles are equivalent.

— HOW TO RUN —
Setup
The General Rule: When racking the game for n players, you can rack any of the following:
– A standard n player game
– A standard n-1 player game with one traveller in the bag
– A standard n-2 player game with two travellers in the bag

Some Examples:
For a 12 player game, you can rack
– 7 Townsfolk, 2 Outsiders, 2 Minions, 1 Demon
– 7 Townsfolk 1 Outsider, 2 Minions, 1 Demon, 1 Traveller
– 7 Townsfolk, 0 Outsiders, 2 Minions, 1 Demon, 2 Travellers
For a 14 player game, you can rack
– 9 Townsfolk, 1 Outsider, 3 Minions, 1 Demon
– 9 Townsfolk, 0 Outsiders, 3 Minions, 1 Demon, 1 Traveller
– 7 Townsfolk, 2 Outsiders, 2 Minions, 1 Demon, 2 Travellers
Note that for the 12 players & 2 travellers game, instead of just removing an outsider we are instead dropping from the 13p setup to the 12p setup.

Please only use the recommended travellers, these can be found in the json and on the night sheet of the pdf.

While the travellers you put in the bag must be random as per the rules, it is intended for the alignments of said travellers to be used as a method of counteracting swingy setups. Set their alignment as you please, I trust you to be reasonable.

You may give Travellers to the Demon as bluffs, please keep in mind the expected Outsider + Traveller count when you do so. If you’re running a 12p game for example, then Outsiders + Travellers = 2, so you should only give Traveller as a bluff if you’d give Outsider as a bluff.

How to Treat Travellers in the Game
– You cannot exile players who drew a traveller from the bag, you can only execute them. This executing a traveller successfully will NOT let you execute anyone else like exiling a traveller would.
– Travellers count towards the player count after the setup. That is unlike a regular game, if there’s a traveller in final 3 or two travellers in final 4, it does not count as reaching the “two players alive, one of them the demon” wincon for evil.

Specific Characters
Travellers cannot be substituted for any ability that explicitly mentions Townsfolk, Outsider, Minion, or Demon.
RAI, the Cerenovus can make players mad as travellers (RAW they technically shouldn’t because Travellers aren’t considered to be “good characters”)
Poppygrowers explicitly only affect minions/demons, so the travellers can learn their demon.

— DESCRIPTION —
This is my script submission for the Garden of Djinn Script World Cup competition. There are some travellers in BotC that I’ve always thought would work as standalone characters for either team. Bone Collector is a balanced character for either team, Scapegoat can serve as a hidden extra life for when town makes a mistake or be used to bluff madness breaks and save evil players, Deviant can serve as a method to rule oneself out as a demon candidate and serves as a flexible bluff for DA, and the Apprentice gives you a 2nd copy of some incredibly powerful townsfolk or just straight up removing a detrimental character at the cost of giving evil more claimspace or doubling up on louder minions.

This being v1.0.0 of a world cup script, expect changes! It’s volatile and I can already think of a few things I want to explore in this space that didn’t come to mind when I originally submitted this.

This entry on the database serves primarily as a resource for player to print and play this irl. To play this script online, please use the version already on the app which has an in-built method to put travellers in the bag.

Enjoy!
