Ogre Release – A New Outsider

Description

Ogre – On your 1st night, pick a player (not yourself): you become their alignment (you don’t know which) even if drunk of poisoned.

Interactions

A very simple character, much more on the social than the mechanical side, since you only make a single choice in the game O

Only a few jinxes for this one, all of which make sense. First up, similar to the Politician/Pit-Hag Jinx.

If the Pit-Hag turns an evil player into the Ogre, they can’t turn good due to their ability. Great. Makes sense. The next, and last, two are focused on the characters that can misregister, the Spy and the Recluse.

Spy always registers as evil to the Ogre.

If the recluse registers as evil, the Ogre learns they are evil.

Both these are interesting and make sense. The Spy ability misregistering to the Ogre would hurt evil, so this resolves that. The Recluse one is more interesting, and is designed around the fact the Recluse is an outsider and should act like it. The added wrinkle of the Ogre learning this is great, since the Ogre will know they are, in the only possible instance, are NOT on the team of the player they picked.

Playing

Do whatever you want. Tell the person, or don’t. Tell someone else you picked them when you didn’t. Just go crazy, you have no information and it’s all socials for you, so the world’s your oyster.

Story Telling

A very simple thing. Wake a player, they pick a player, put them back to sleep. Change alignment if they picked an evil. Never have to think about them again.

Final Thoughts

A nice simple outsider without anything complicated going on. Lots of fun to play with and as.

I got to help play-test this and refining the script was an interesting process to be involved with.
