The Jinx It competition has wrapped up, and the community delivered some incredible scripts! During the playoffs, there were some wild plays, crazy bluffs, and unforgettable moments. If you missed these games, stay tuned to my YouTube as many will be released there.
Let’s dive into the process to whittle the 104 scripts down to the top 16, how the brackets came to be and finally the results throughout the competition.
How it Started
Teensies are great, and there aren’t enough great, classic custom Teensyville scripts. So continuing on from 2025, I decided to run another script competition for my birthday. This time however, I wanted a theme. As I was racking my brain, Laura reminded me just how much I like niche, edge case rulings and interactions, so Jinx It was born! Rules were set and submissions were open, and wow, were there submissions!
When the dust settled, there were over 100 entries! Removing duplicate submissions (it was great to see some scripts go through multiple versions before the submission date) and ones that didn’t meet the criteria, there were 104 scripts left. 104!
The Top 16
Then the hard job of whittling them down to a top 16 began. I grouped them by similar feel, in terms of the jinxes and characters that were present. I then went through each grouping and picked my favourites. This reduced the list down to 53. Then it became hard. I loaded each of the remaining scripts into the app and built different bags. I thought about the options that brought forward, how it would feel to draw different tokens as a player, and the general uniqueness of it all. Finally, a top 16 was reached!
The Brackets
These 16 scripts were now to play off against each other, but what about voting? How would we decide the winners? After seeing how other competitions have been run I wanted to try and get real votes – no bots! So I settled on ranked voting with 4 scripts facing off against each other. I also was aware of how different a script can be when watched vs played, so I also decided that I would split the voting, with players on the stream making up 50% of the vote, while viewers were the other 50%. Having both ranked voting as well as the different pool of votes would also mean that a tie would be very difficult. I did also rank them myself before tallying the results just in case, however my personal rankings were never needed.
The results
There were more than 100 votes cast across all the brackets and there were some really close battles that I could’ve seen going either way, one or two votes in it. Each round was hard fought, and getting to the winning script was not easy, based on how even the votes were in every bracket.
- Group A – The Minion Monty Hall Paradox got 27.64% of the vote, 1.6% above the next
- Group B – A Puff of Smoke got 29.36% of the vote, 3.13% above the next
- Group C – Delayed Doom got 31.91% of the vote, 3.1% above the next
- Group D – The Merge got 30% of the vote, only 1.67% above the next
The Final
The final 4 scripts played off, one last time. A fierce competition was had and with over 30 votes cast the result was in.
The Minion Monty Hall Paradox came out on top, with 28.25% of the vote. It was a scant 0.89% ahead of the second-place entry, Delayed Doom.
The whole event was a blast to run, and a massive thank you to everyone who entered scripts, watched, cheered along in chat, and voted. These community competitions exist because of you, and now everyone has an amazing range of new Teensyville scripts.
